Director: Patricia Kaiser

Patricia Kaiser is a trained elementary vocal music teacher with 23 years of elementary teaching experience, primarily with the Ottawa Catholic School Board. She has extensive experience performing in a variety of choirs, including Ensemble Calixa Lavallée under the direction of Laurence Ewashko. She has also performed in and served as music director for several amateur musical theatre productions. Patricia currently sings with the Canterbury Trebles Women’s Ensemble, who have previously achieved 2nd place in Canada at the national level of competition.

Patricia's passion is children's choral music. She discovered her love of directing children’s music when she worked with her first school choir in 1999 and has been working with children's choirs since that time. Patricia has been directing children's choirs, both in Canada and in Germany, over the past 22 years. Patricia has worked with OCSB choirs since 2006, and is in her 14th year as director of the Young Voices Choir.

Young Voices Choir History

Our intermediate choir, the Young Voices Choir, is comprised of singers selected from our elementary schools based on their natural singing ability and desire to participate in a Board-based choir. They sustain a membership of approximately 50 singers, rehearse weekly, and present their own Christmas and Spring concerts twice yearly, as well as several additional performances. In June, they take part in the annual OCSB Choirs’ Spring Concert. They have performed at various functions, including the Annual Meeting of our Board of Education, the AGM of the Canadian Teachers Federation, the OCSTA Conference, and at a variety of events for such organizations as the Ottawa Catholic Childcare Corporation, Encounters With Canada, and the Queensway-Carleton Hospital Foundation. The Young Voices have often achieved first place in their class in the Kiwanis Music Festival, and have been recipients of the Centennial Choir Award.
