Young Voices Choir History
Our intermediate choir, the Young Voices Choir, is comprised of singers selected from our elementary schools based on their natural singing ability and desire to participate in a Board-based choir. They sustain a membership of approximately 50 singers, rehearse weekly, and present their own Christmas and Spring concerts twice yearly, as well as several additional performances. In June, they take part in the annual OCSB Choirs’ Spring Concert. They have performed at various functions, including the Annual Meeting of our Board of Education, the AGM of the Canadian Teachers Federation, the OCSTA Conference, and at a variety of events for such organizations as the Ottawa Catholic Childcare Corporation, Encounters With Canada, and the Queensway-Carleton Hospital Foundation. The Young Voices have often achieved first place in their class in the Kiwanis Music Festival, and have been recipients of the Centennial Choir Award.
