The OCSB Choirs performed in four classes at the Kiwanis Festival on Monday evening.  The Children’s Choir, directed by MaryAnn Dunn was presented with the Luella Barrigar Trophy, receiving marks of 90 and 88 in the Soprano/Alto and Folk Song Chorus classes. The Chamber Choir, directed by Carla MacGregor received a mark of 88 for their impressive performances.  A new group, Triple Trio, comprised of nine young ladies from both choirs, directed by Carla MacGregor, received a mark of 90.   Adjudicator Elise Letourneau complimented the chamber choir on their musicality, tuning and rhythmic accuracy. The Triple Trio received high praise for their unison singing, artistic interpretation and ‘connectedness’ to one another. She was equally impressed with the Children’s Choir for their clean entries, synchronization, wonderful expression and spot on pitch.  Ms. Letourneau loved the premiere performance by the Children’s Choir of “Dylan’s Sky”, commissioned for the choir’s 25th anniversary this year, and commended composer Tony Dunn for this marvelous piece.
